K, this project started out as a shower that would not work. It barely had water running through it. I started with cleaning out any hard water deposits, no success. Changed the valve cartridge with a new one, still did not work. Decided I need to go to the valve itself and replace clogged pipe, this at least got me some water. I put in the new valve cartridge, again no pressure or water. At this point I was about to just add another small bedroom. I inserted the old valve cartridge and taa daa water and pressure, but now I had a major drip. You know the kind of drip I am talking about, that drip that annoys you when you are watching TV, studying, and yeah, even when you are on the other side of the house trying to sleep. Tried to clean cartridges, replaced washers and gaskets, etc and still the stupid drip. Frustration set in and then I had just had enough. This trip to the hardware store took me to the plumbing isle to obtain a shut off valve, yep I did it, inserted that shutoff valve on my shower fitting and viola no more drip. Did earn the "Look" from my wife, but we are not wasting water anymore and now all I have to do is repair the holes created while getting into the plumbing the first time.

K, I have been running up against frustration after frustration while trying to get a few things fixed. After spending too much money on item after Item with no success, the thing that always seems to work is the homemade fix. Well, after doing this a few times my wife decided that I could add a few lines to the "You know you are when...." by Jeff Foxworthy. Me, I jsut think I saved some money and fixed the problem alot easier and faster than it would have took me if I had done it the right way.
Thus, the creation of this blog, "The Redneck Fix". Created to share ideas on how to fix your problems without spending tons of money on those stupid breakable parts (I had to go to the hardware store 3 times the other day cause the part I was using did not like me). I will share my few "fixes" that have earned me the title of Redneck. If you have an Idea, share it. Thanks and enjoy.
